Piano Professor — School Edition

Terms of Use & License Agreement

Version 1 (pilot) · Vendor: Piano Professor, operated by John David Maybury · Accepted by the teacher or school at signup. Students never see or accept these terms.

1. Your license

You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access the hosted Piano Professor service for the seat tier you purchased: Single Teacher, School, Department, or District. The license is a right to access the service while active and paid — not a sale of the software.

2. What you may do

3. What you may not do. You may not copy, download, or redistribute the application; upload or re-serve it anywhere; resell, sublicense, rent, or lease access; modify or reverse-engineer it; share your login credentials or seat with anyone; or use class codes to give other teachers or the public access to the paid tool. Session codes are for your own students, for one class.

4. Need more teachers?

Buy more seats (school, department, or district tiers) — that's the supported way to expand, and it keeps your school's usage legitimate under review.

5. Accounts, audit & enforcement

Keep your credentials confidential; you are responsible for activity under your account. We log teacher logins, session creation, and export activity, and we monitor for unusual account use (such as one seat running many simultaneous, dispersed sessions). Violations of the sharing ban may result in suspension or termination without refund.

6. Student data

Student data handling is governed by our Privacy Policy and any Data Privacy Agreement signed with your school or district. Use non-identifying student labels where your school requires data minimization.

7. Payment & term

Licenses are billed at the listed price for the applicable tier. Pilot licenses are sold to a limited group of early testers; pilot terms (including feedback participation and refunds) are provided at purchase. Access ends when the license lapses, is canceled, or is terminated for breach.

8. Founder licenses ("unlimited access")

A Founder license (Personal or Teacher) is a one-time payment, not a subscription. "Unlimited access" means: full use of the service, including every update we release, for as long as Piano Professor is commercially operated, with no further payments ever. It is a promise of no future charges — not a guarantee that the service will operate forever. If the service is ever permanently discontinued, founders receive at least 90 days' advance notice. A Founder license covers one account (one teacher seat, or one household for a Personal license) and may not be resold, shared, or transferred.

Refunds: Founder purchases include a 30-day money-back guarantee — email iwillfindawayormakeone@gmail.com within 30 days of purchase for a full refund. After 30 days, the one-time fee is non-refundable.

9. Service & ownership

The service is provided as-is / as-available during the pilot; features may evolve, and material changes to these terms are communicated to account holders. Piano Professor — including its code, notation engine, and curriculum — remains the property of the vendor.
